Another tricky live 1/2 hand

Postby pokeritsallskill » Thu Mar 15, 2007 4:54 am

Villain has about 300 in front, i have exactly 200 to start the hand.

He limps utg, along with about 4 others. One thing I should describe about this game. Is that people LOVE to see flops. I had AQo after 3 limpers, in this type of environment, I'm actually against raising it up, because generally, I hate playing what I think are marginal hands (TPTK, etc) in big pot situations.

6 see a flop of [As] [Qs] [Kc]

UTG bets 15, and there is one caller, I raise it to 40, UTG reraises to 65, the caller folds and it's back to me.

I call 25, the turn is [5h] , Villain bets 60 and I have 135 left.

I should....?

So he limps utg, overbets the pot on the flop then 3 bets it when you raise...I think we can rule out some dinky pair. That narrows things down to AK, KQ, AQ or TJ, I think. Looks like a fold to me since best case scenario you split. You might also include a hand like [Ks] [Js] or [Ks] [Ts], but I'd want a bit more info on this guy's play and his tendencies before bringing these into play, and even then he's got 12 outs. I don't think these are that likely though, since I would expect him to just call and keep the MP player in the pot.

Edit: I should pay more attention, you are crushing KQ, so it's not a clear fold since KQ is highly possible.

So you hate playing a big pot where you don't know where you stand. Nice how not raising preflop saved you from that fate, huh?

I don't know what to do here. If you can rule out AK AA KK QQ for this guy to have UTG, then he either has JT or you're ahead, so you're ahead most of the time. But if he likes to try to limpraise his big pairs or AK you are in deep trouble probably 80-90% of the time.

His turn bet makes no sense though. There's 140 in the pot and you have 130 left. Unless he can firmly rule out a flush draw for you, he has to be worried about draws ... unless he has [Js][Ts]. His flop minimum raise also totally sucks if he's protecting against draws. On the other hand, maybe he just sucks period.

Need a read on Villain. If he's a solid player I call because (a) he should be all-in by the turn with pretty much any two cards that beat me here, and (b) solid players can make plays. If he's a moron I fold because he's made it clear that he loves his hand and donks are too stupid to make plays like this on dangerous boards without a real hand.
