Another AA Hand - 1000 NL

Postby droqqa » Mon Apr 04, 2005 3:29 pm

Anyone out there call this all-in? Dont have a read on my opponent in this hand yet, he's only been at the table for like 20 hands and hasnt shown anything down yet. He has me covered here.

That flop seems like it would hit the CO perfectly. I put him on a big PP, probably tens or better when he called my raise to 150. The only hands that I can beat here are JJ and KK. I think KK is more likely to push all-in preflop, or at least re-raise preflop, so I discount the probability of him holding that hand. Further, does KK like this board either? KK beats nothing with that board.

Also, any comments on my flop play? I chose to bet the pot (or close to it) to make it seem like I was pot committed - his re-raise all-in just seems that much more stronger.

Input greatly appreciated.

I think that is a disciplined fold. My only other thought is that he might have AQ. Many people will call a re-raise with AQ, even though this is generally a bad play. Clearly the Pot sized bet into the re-raiser is a strong play, so I think chances are you are behind in the hand.

He has you covered but how much do you start with?

Lets say you started with $1000. Even though he went all n for $875, the bet would be $550 to you.

That means the pot would be $1185 and its $550 to you. Youre getting 2-1. Probably a good fold still.

The less you have to start thr hand though, the more likely you have to call.

Since you have position and there only only the blinds to act meanoing theres little chance the pot will be multiway, I would just called his raise.

He knows you have AA or KK most likely and he doesnt care which tells me he has you beat. Looks like QQ to me.

I call here getting 2:1. He would make this same play with possibly KK or JJ. Who knows if he has AKh or what else. I think I call off for another 5:50, if he hit his set I pay him off.

Ice -

I considered just smooth calling preflop, but there were two limpers already in the pot before CO raised. I thought there was a good chance that one or both would call if I smooth called. Possibly one of the blinds too! I didnt want to take this flop 3, 4, or even 5 handed.

His hand reeks of QQ to me. He called my re-raise quickly, leading me to believe he had a big pair. The check-raise futher confirms my suspicion.

iceman - The pot is $1445, not $1185. So he is calling $510 into a pot of $1445, which means he is getting close to 3-1. That said, without a read I have to call here. There is a good enough chance that he has JJ, KK, or [Ah][Kh] that it's worth calling with those odds.

I'd put him on KK or QQ considering the preflop reraise call.....Now would he go all in w/ an overpair there??? He'd probably lead out w/ KK, and Check the QQ....

I think you made a good lay....
