TT and a bad flop

Postby AlamedaMike » Fri Sep 09, 2005 12:19 pm

Here I bet the river representing the Ace and he folded.

Question? Is this +EV long term or should I have just folded on the flop?

FullTiltPoker Game #212438993: Table Casino Center - $0.25/$0.50 - No Limit Hold'em

Seat 4: ASANDOVA ($25.40)

Seat 7: AlamedaMike ($48.60)

ASANDOVA posts the small blind of $0.25

*** HOLE CARDS ***

Dealt to AlamedaMike [Th] [Ts]

AlamedaMike raises to $2.25

LAsimon calls $2.25

Tanksae calls $2.25

*** FLOP *** [6d] [6h] [Qc]

AlamedaMike checks, LAsimon bets $4.50, Tanksae folds,

For some reason I think I have the best hand.

AlamedaMike calls $4.50

*** TURN *** [2d]

AlamedaMike checks, LAsimon checks

*** RIVER *** [Ah]

Scare card - I am going to try to steal the pot which has $17. Whould he fold Qx here? If not then my bet is -EV

AlamedaMike bets $15, LAsimon folds

Total pot $17 | Rake $0.85

Bet the flop, don't check it.

If you "think you're ahead" after you check and he bets, then go ahead and check-raise it. But for God's sake don't check-call it. You let AK AJ KJ etc. draw to their overcards for free.

Also, how can you "think you're ahead" and then later put him on Qx?

The guy didnt have a Q. He most likely had a medium pair and when you checked, he bet to take it down. I wouldve done the same thing with 88.

I may or may not have bet the turn again with 88. I definatley have to fold when you bet the ace. You played it exactly like most people (incorrectly) play AK.
