Ace little OOP

Postby AlamedaMike » Fri Nov 04, 2005 12:29 pm

Lately I have been folding Ace little suited in all positions except the BB.

For some inexplicable reason I decided to play this hand OOP.

So after making a bad call I hit a very nice flop. No raise preflop so I don't think that A T is out.

FullTiltPoker Game #277382691: Table Carter - $0.25/$0.50 - No Limit Hold'em - 2005/11/04
Seat 2: BMitt ($34.55)
Seat 3: AlamedaMike ($44.35)
Seat 4: Youth ($39.10)
Seat 5: DanDam2174 ($51.15)
Seat 6: Bill Munny ($48.40)
Seat 7: skik210 ($65.90)
Seat 8: Zigdogg ($49)
Seat 9: miker117 ($4.10)
Zigdogg posts the small blind of $0.25
miker117 posts the big blind of $0.50
The button is in seat #7
*** HOLE CARDS ***
Dealt to AlamedaMike [Ac] [4c]
BMitt folds
Skw5r sits down
AlamedaMike calls $0.50
Youth calls $0.50
Skw5r adds $25
DanDam2174 calls $0.50
Bill Munny folds
skik210 folds
Zigdogg calls $0.25
miker117 checks

*** FLOP *** [4s] [Td] [As]

Zigdogg checks
miker117 checks
AlamedaMike bets $1.50
Youth folds
DanDam2174 raises to $3
Zigdogg folds
miker117 folds
AlamedaMike calls $1.50

*** TURN *** ($8.50) [Qs]

I am not too much worried about AQ but I don't like the spade. He either called with an Ace or a flush draw which just got there. Since I am OOP I plan to check call the Turn if the bet is not too big.

AlamedaMike checks
DanDam2174 bets $4

I think I have the best hand here. Question, should I check raise or just call?

AlamedaMike calls $4

*** RIVER *** ($16.50) [4d]

Here is my real question. Do you agree with the size of the river bet? Thanks

AlamedaMike bets $6
DanDam2174 calls $6

*** SHOW DOWN ***
AlamedaMike shows [Ac] [4c] (a full house, Fours full of Aces)
DanDam2174 mucks [Ad] [3h]
AlamedaMike wins the pot ($27.10) with a full house, Fours full of Aces
*** SUMMARY ***
Total pot $28.50 | Rake $1.40

I like the turn call so you can see the river card.
I am really liking that 4 on the river and would be thinking that I am most likely ahead.

Since you played it kinda like you were chasing the flush by just checking and calling; I probably try an all in to make it look like I missed my flush and am trying to bully him out.

The way this guy played, I am pretty sure he would have called it.

I was debating that but I figured that he would most likely fold so I tried a value bet. I have tried the 'all in I missed to look like a bluff' but it does not work for me often.

Thanks

If I didn't have a good read on this player, then I reraise on the flop to find out where I'm at. I dont mind taking the pot down right there with this type of hand and the size of the pot. If he comes back over the top again then I would probably call without a better read on him.

If he calls my reraise then the [Qs] would scare me. I would have to put two spades or AQ in the range of hands he was holding.

I like the call on the turn. His small bet looks like he is looking for you to check/raise so he can push.

On the river, normally I think my opponent would fold to a pot size bet so I usually make a value bet just as you did. Now that you have seen his cards you have to put a note on him and next time bet the pot on any street you think you have the best hand.

I like the play on all streets. $6 into $16.75 is good. It's big enough to be real money, but small enough to suggest tentativeness so that if he were on the flush he just might raise it up so you can bust him. Nice job.

Thanks for the feedback guys - I think I am getting a little better with the help of the posters that take the time to review my hands. :D

BTW, I played live NL100 Cache Creek Casino and ended up winning. As usual I had 2 bad beats or I would have won more. A win is a win.

Thanks again.
