With such a short stack, villain knows you have great odds 4:1 and doesn't have fold equity, so probably has a good hand. Even if you know this, with those odds you have to call. If he has the straight you're dead, but he could have a pair and some draw. At 50NL I see these short stack all-ins with flush draws.

One clear thing about your bet is that it makes your decision on the flop easy, with those odds you have to call.

I would call that every time. Why did you raise $70 preflop though?

I raised to 70 PF bc it was a very loose table, I didnt want to see a flop 3 handed.
He called with TT and flopped a set.
I busted him about 10 hands later with AA over 99...

Pretty crazy hand happened about 20 mins. later.

I get [Ks] [Kh] in the SB bump it to $50

Only the button calls.

Flop: [6s] [6h] [Kd]

I bet $50

Villian reraises to $250, I call.

Turn is the 4th king.

I check Villian pushes I call.

He shows [6d] [6h] for flopped quads... God was he pissed.

On the first hand, he called you with no odds for a set, so his play was incorrect on what one independent of result.

I guess you can't complain too much after the quads hand :). With one of those you're kind of using up your share of luck for the week :) I hope villain had a nice big stack.

He had about 2/3 of a full stack and for all intensive purposes should have doubled up there, all the money was going in one way or another on that hand, I just caught the 1 and only card in the deck to save me.

It's weird, on Empire the $1000 are filled with people who buy in short.

Me thinks that's very +EV

Against a short-stack like that, I don't think I can resist calling, although I'm not sure you're really ahead 1/4 of the time (should be a $145 call on a pot of almost $600).

It's the checkraise that throws me a bit here. I don't see QQ/JJ making that move. As I say, I really don't think I can resist calling given the limited stack-depth, but I'd bet your behind more than 3/4 of the time on that board. With the check-raise, the worst hand I really expect here is AA.

Not meaning at all to hijack here, but in one of my "explore raising vulnerabilities" threads, someone asked a very good question about protecting your own raises.

I think short-stacks are a great spot to make some statements that tend to protect your raises. Here, you're already in fairly deep, and it's $145 to call for a $600 pot. I honestly think, given the check-raise, this is probably a bad call. I don't see you winning this hand even 1/4 of the time (although maybe I'm pessimistic here).

But I do think that by calling and turning over KK, you protect future raises at little risk relative to the size of the pot (well, $145 is $145, but you know what I mean).

A bad call against a short-stack isn't nearly as bad as it is against a deeper stack with betting still out and, I think, does also have some intangible equity.
