My image should be aggressive if anyone is paying attention. No PT but I would hazard that my stats are something like 25/22 or so. The average opponent is loose/passive. No specific reads here.

I've got [3h] and a $100 stack in the SB, UTG ($36) limps, folded to me and I complete. BB ($100+) checks and we see a flop:

I lead out for $2, BB calls and now UTG miniraises. I re-raise to $14. BB gets out, UTG calls.

Turn is the , I put UTG in for $21.

It's 4-handed so UTG is in effect the CO. I've got [5d] and raise to $3. Button and SB gets out but BB with a $76 stack flat calls. I have him covered.

Flop comes [8d][8s]

BB checks, I bet $4 and now BB mini-checkraises me to $8. I put him all-in for another $65.

He didn't have any problems finding a call on the turn with [9h] for the straight flush.

He's a pretty solid 2:1 favorite on the flop with his OESFD and two overcards to my pair and of course I am drawing completely dead on the turn so I got my money in really bad here.

When he miniraises the flop I think he has either a weak Qx, a draw or a set. Maybe a horribly played AA.

If I give him a hand range of AA, 33, QJ-Q8s and QJ, QT plus all the suited I will be 46/54 against that range. The only hands I might fold out are those that I do OK against, namely Qx.

Still, folding to this miniraise is out of the question and calling puts me in a really awkward spot, so is there an alternative? I know the standard line here is pretty much what I did but is it really the best way to play it?

He called with a brilliantly played AA and didn't suck out, so I won. I cracked AA three times that day with suited connectors, either in limped pots or where they decided to slowplay and just call my raise preflop.
