Here's something I've been meaning to ask the forum about - I have began playing at Cryptologic sites just recently and am faced with a new decision on occasions: how to handle the fact that there is no capping on turn/river when I have the nuts.

Take this first example:

UTG+1 checks, Hero bets, UTG+1 raises, Hero re-raises, UTG+1 re-raises, Hero re-raises, UTG+1 re-raises, Hero calls.

River: (17.8BB, 2 players)
UTG+1 bets, Hero raises, UTG+1 re-raises, Hero re-raises, UTG+1 re-raises, Hero re-raises, UTG+1 re-raises, Hero re-raises, UTG+1 re-raises, Hero re-raises, UTG+1 re-raises, Hero calls.

Results:
Final pot: 39.8BB
UTG+1 shows 7c Js
Hero shows Qd Jh


I decided to stop this - because I figured he must have QJ as well and to my surprise, he didn't. I was kicking myself for not raising him for the rest of his stack!

The rake for the above hand was $0.95.

This time, not wanting a repeat of the 1st situation, I decided to raise the villian for all of his stack. Turns out he had the same hand.. so we split the pot. The rake was $1.30.

Each of us actually lost 15 cents.

WWYHD? (What would you have done?) Discuss away!

Edit: With the stone colds. Didnt notice the second hand wasnt.

Hand 1 I will not stop, you have the almighty nuts and the times you lose 1 BB to the rake will be made up by the times you have them beat as seen above.

Hand 2 is a little different, you do not have the nuts you have the second nuts. As far as I'm concerned I'll probably 7 bet it, but after that I'm calling. If you had QJ then play as you should have the first hand.

Whoa, didn't notice the J before in 2nd hand.. I doubt the other person did either...

Now I feel relieved!
