Bet The Pot CHARITY Tournament - THIS SUNDAY! PLEASE ATTEND

Postby Felonius_Monk » Wed Sep 07, 2005 6:43 pm

Hi all

As previously announced, what may be the first of a number of hurricane relief charity tournaments will be starting this Sunday, 11th September, at Pokerstars.

The tourney may be found under the "Tournaments" tab, under "Private", and is named the BET THE POT LOUISIANA CHARITY EVENT (#12270698).

The buyin is only $10, so there's no excuse not to attend! In order to play in this tournament, we ask for a charitable contribution of $10 in addition to your buyin fee, which will be donated in its entirity to the American Red Cross and earmarked for Hurricane Katrina relief projects. The contribution money will be collected by sending a transfer either to Trodgers or (if necessary) to myself, and despatched ASAP once collected. Trodgers (Tim) himself has been collecting (as has FlopMyFlush) based on poker winnings this month, and Tim has also kindly offered to donate a sum of money in conjunction with this tournament, which will boost the funds going to hurricane relief.

Game is NL holdem, usual blind structure, and closer to the time we may be offering some BOUNTIES, both going to charity AND potentially some extra moolah for you boun ty hunters, on certain BTP luminaries, if they make an appearance.

I will be donating any winnings (in the unlikely event I make the money) to the Katrina relief appeal; I won't be keeping a cent of anything made in this tourney.

Basically it promises to be GREAT FUN (hopefully the capitalisation should convince you of that, if nothing else, ya sourpusses!), with the possibility of a full scale lubed-up man-orgy post-tournament featuring Tightwad sandwiched between MVP (who, I hear, is on heat) and Mecos* .

Also, it's for a good cause so if you can make an appearance, then PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do so! It's only 20 bucks and a chance to make a real difference to some peoples' lives, as well as have a great laugh and win yourself some money. Now, how often do you get the chance to do that?

THE DETAILS:

Sunday 11th September (THIS SUNDAY!)
5pm ET (that's 10pm for all us UK residents, come on the Brit Massive!)
$10+1 buyin
NLHE
$10 charitable contribution to be paid to Hurricane relief fund, collected by Trodgers (to a pokerstars account which will be publicised as soon as he lets me know what it is - anyone not paying will not be ritually humiliated on site  but if you forget we'll PM you; if you desperately want to enter but really cant afford the 20 bucks (come on, it's 20 bucks!) PM me/Trodgers and we'll see what we can do, though rich cheapskates need not apply!).

Password is red cross

PokerStars MAY be able to match the total buy-in with an additional contribution to the funds, so for each person who enters we may be able to put $20 to a good cause, plus whatever else gets donated by good hearted individuals during/after the tourney!

COME ON GUYS, THIS IS FOR A GOOD CAUSE SO LETS HAVE A MASSIVE TURNOUT!!! ALL (and I mean ALL) WELCOME!

OK, STOP PRESS -

The PokerStars account for your $10 transfer is "TrodExpress". Trodgers will act as tournament director for this part of the deal, and will pull together all the $10 contributions that the entrants make (ensure everyone's paid up, he he he) and then send the whole lot over to the Red Cross. We haven't figured what the best means is yet, but we'll be sure to ensure that we get the final figure totted up and post evidence of the donation on here.

AND - in more exciting news,

Trodgers has extremely kindly decided to MATCH UP TO THE first TWENTY (that's 20, XX) entrants with $10 of his own first, IF they get their entry in BEFORE the beginning of Sunday. So, if we can get 20 people signed up to the tourney on Saturday, all paid up their charitable contributions to "TrodExpress", he will MATCH $200 of their money with his own, and thus give us a much bigger donation! Nice work, sir.

SO GET YOUR ENTRY IN QUICK! These people in the Louisiana and Mississippi really need every cent we can raise.

Any problems, let me know by email (born_to_knit@hotmail.com) or on here.

Good luck everyone!

Also - please note, although there was talk of doing a few events that's by no means set in stone. Could be this is your only chance, so if you want to play for sure in an event that'll help a good cause, keep your Sunday free!

Last night I stayed up late playing poker with Tarot cards. I got a full house and four people died.

PLEASE SEND ME AN EMAIL WITH TRANSFER

Postby T-Rod » Thu Sep 08, 2005 8:05 am

When you signup for the tourney and transfer money to "TrodExpress" please send me a PM or an email (tim@trrodgers.com) and let me know who you are and what your screen name is.

Pokerstars only shows me your Pokerstars user name (which might not match your BTP name). Thanks

Transferring money on Stars is easy; here's how to do it:

First, sign up to the tourney in the "Tournaments" "Private" tab (11 september, BET TH E POT LOUSIANA CHARITY EVENT). Password red cross

Then click on "Requests" at the top of the stars menu, "Transfer Funds", type in the amount to transfer and put in "TrodExpress" as the name.

Then send a private message through this site (go to the "you have no new messages" thing at the top of the forum, and "NEW") to Trodgers, telling him who you are (BTP handle) and your pokerstars name. Then you're all set to go!

If anybody forgets we'll PM you about it, 4 people signed up already, i'm hoping we can get lots more in the next few days![/b]

Yep, I was just informed of that -

STOP PRESS - IMPORTANT, PLEASE READ!!!!!

The original tourney I set up was a limit one, by mistake.

Although I emailed Stars to ask them to change it, I decided it's probably easier (as only 6 people are registered so far) to simply create a new tourney and have people sign up there.

SO -

the CORRECT tournament (i.e. the NL one) is -

#12331497
"BET THE POT CHARITY NO LIMIT EVENT"

The other tournament will be removed once everyone unsubscribes from it. I can't cancel it before everyone quits.

PLEASE JOIN THE "BET THE POT CHARITY NO LIMIT EVENT", which is BELOW the other tourney in the "private tournaments" list.

This tourney is exactly as described and will be going ahead as I mentioned before. The $10 deposits to TrodExpress are going ahead as described. The ONLY different thing is that the tourney name and number have changed; please sign up accordingly!

I will PM all current signees to make sure they know this.

Sorry for any inconvenience,

Monk
