PokerChamps

Postby tetsuo » Tue Dec 28, 2004 7:12 pm

Thought I'd stick something in here since I did a bit of investigation into it.

PokerChamps is basically the 'Gus Hansen' offering.

They currently have a 100% matchup bonus, which is released over like 10 weeks.

But what is interesting is that they have a 'Cashflow Bonus Program' , which is basically rakeback. Yes, that's right, they appear to credit you with a % of your rake back every Friday. Seems a bit suspect at first, but their rake structures look good, too. Like a max $1 rake for $1/$2 or below, max $3 for $5/$10, and these rates go down if there are less than 10 players, too.

The software is interesting. Basically the single client window is capable of holding up to 16 (yes that's right folks, SIXTEEN) tables with no overlapping. Of course your resolution and eyesight has to be good, but they also do other multiples like x2, x4 etc.

The per-game interface is nothing to rave about. There are no avatars, the colours are a bit drab, and it doesn't show you the preflop pot size building up (which I like) as I recall.

They also don't have a tremendously high number of players, but those that I saw were more loosey goosey than 'Stars type rocks (well, this is a 'Gus Site', lol).

(and yes, this link IS tracked to BTP, so you'd be doing us a favour!)

Hey tetsuo, sounds promising. A few questions...

What is the deposit/withdrawl mechanism and banking like (with regard to playing in the UK, will they accept switch or credit card input/output, does it have to be neteller etc etc, what are the options?). How big can the match bonus be (is it only up to $100 or something?). Are there other games than HE offered, is the action mostly limit or NL? Any omaha tables?

Thanks a lot!

Hey dude,

Payments: Neteller, Visa, Mastercard, Wire Transfer.

Max Bonus Matchup: $100 (work-off conditions apply, as is standard).

They currently have NL and limit implemented, but you can see from their non-clickable tabs that Omaha, Omaha H/L, Stud and Stud H/L will be coming.

When I last checked them out, 600 people were online. This is about the same as the last time I checked, too (21.30 GMT). I'd say 75% of these people are on play money right now, but I guess this will change.

In the NL section, they are currently doing blinds from 2c/4c to $25/50.

In the limit section the blinds are from 2c/4c to $100/$200.

Being a VERY new site there are almost zero players past 25c/50c NL and $3/$6 limit tables.

Hope that helps!

Do they have it were you can down load the software are is it still web based? I have dial up out and web base doesn't work. I tried it when it was web based as well as Hollywood Poker and they both sucked playing MTT's because it took me to long to change rooms.

Hmm, no I didn't see an option for it to be web based - I just downloaded the client.
