Hi everyone! This is my first post on these forums and I don't know much about forums in general. However, this site has been useful for the poker tracker tips so I figured I'd help everyone out by CLARIFYING some typical misconceptions about poker slang out there. Whether you are a n00b at poker or you're a seasoned veteran multi-tabler or rounder at your local casinos, you can benefit from constantly referring to this handy dandy glossary. Sorry that it's not in alphabetical order.
Donkey: 1. A person who doesn't play exactly like you. 2. Someone who beats you out of your money.
Fish: Someone who you suck out on. Taunt players by typing it in after you suck out on them to let them know how inferior they are.
Suckout: When you've magnificently outmaneuvered your opponent by catching a joker. Whenever you're going to lose the hand because you're behind, type this term in the chat just before folding to let your opponent know you're a better player than he or she is.
Bad Beat: Whenever you lose at showdown. Note* You've never put your money in bad.
Overpair?: Another term used in table chat just before a fold.
translation: I have absolutely nothing, but the game is too fast so I figured I'd type something before I fold. See "trips?," "set?", or "overflush?".
Joker: The card you "just knew" was coming when you got your chips in the middle.
This is just a start and I hope to add many terms. If you think of any missing definitions feel free to e-mail me at
xiaohu4747@yahoo.com, so that I may add them to this post along with your user name. You can find me on PokerStars as th3_c1rcus. And always remember, if you suck out on me, you can just send me the money back instead of saying "sorry."
