True, but that doesn't make all beliefs equally valid.

I believe that humans evolved from other animals. There is no direct proof of this.
Actually there is - there is plenty of direct evidence from molecular biology as well as the fossil record.

My belief is no more or less valid than someone who believes in a more literal translation of the bible and that god created Adam out of dust from the corners of the earth.
Yes it is. It is demonstrably much more likely to be true by any rational measure.

T-Rod, I don't know if you want me to argue with you any more on this one. I will if you want, but I'm afraid when I get into this too far I come across as an academic intellectual type who enjoys throwing problems into the way of people's religious faith ... when I don't have anything better to offer.

OK, I don't just "come across" like that, that's actually who I am. :?
