Stars points question.

Postby AlexMR » Thu Sep 28, 2006 1:48 pm

I have read several times that you can get upto 27% of rakeback at stars if you reach Platinum Star level. I've also read that the best value you get for your points is with Amazon gift certificates.

I was checking the Gold Star store and an Amazon $500 gift certificate costs 31000points. I you are a PlatinumStar VIP member, you get 37points/hr at NL$100FR. I came up with this number from this: You get 15 points/hr playing NL$100FR being nothing or, how they call it, a BronzeStar member. Mutiply that by 2.5 and you get 37points/hr being a PlatinumStar VIP.

NOw, that means you need 31000/37 = 837hrs to get 500USD. That translates into $0.6/hr, which is far from the 20%rakeback sugested here in a few posts. I cant remember exactly which thread was the one I read saying being a Platinum Star VIP gives you 20%rakeback, but it is wrong or I am missing something. Maybe you need to add a value to the freeroll? is that what I am missing?

Based in a 20K hand DB I have of NL$100 in several sites, I found that a player contributes $0.082 per hand in NL$100. At 55hands/hr that is $4.5hr. 20% of that is $0.9/hr.

0.6/4.5= 13.33% of rakeback, which is very low, IMO.

My question is, where is the remaining 6.67% I'm missing? Is it the tournament tickets/freerolls?

Norton, the Supernova member suposedly get 27%rakeback. The Platinum Star members are the ones getting 20%.

Pozzo. I am talking about specific hands played on FTP, party, tribeca, Stars. For a tight player, the 85%RB for a 10x bonus in Ongame is likely ONLY if you are refering to contributed raked. Most Poker sites with RB affiliates dont use the contributed rake. That is the case of AbsolutePOker, UltimateBet and Full tilt Poker.

They use the old "Party system" to calculate RB. If 10 players are dealt cards and the rake taken is $1, then every player is considered to have contributed $0.10. That is those poker rooms I mentioned calculate MGR for RB purposes.

THe $4.5/hr is accurate. That depends a lot on your table selection. I am always looking for high avg pot so probably if you like more the WT passive tables, yur MGR/hr is less. I AVOID tables with Avg. pot below $20.

Poker is silly.

It is not enough to be good at chess, you must also play well.

Somewhere in the world someone is training when you are not. When you race him, he will win.

thx roy.

I have been making up numbers and I've got to the conclusion that it is better to lay at Stars even without considering the RB. The point is in most poker rooms, megamultitabling is very hard, while in Stars, the software is amazing and was designed with multitabling in mind. You can resize the tables to fit as many as you can read, and also the tables pop up everytime it is your turn. Ful tilt has that last feature but they dont have resizeable windows. What I will do is I will play 13tables. Probably 9 in Stars and 4 in full tilt earning 27%rakeback. Since the max tables I am able to do with my current setup is 8 tables (at other poker rooms, like ongame) the best hourly rate can be achieved in Stars/FTP, given my 4PTBB/100 winrate. 5 additional tables represent $22/hr + about $5 in rakeback for a total $27/hr. The best bonuses you are gong to find if you play 50K hands/month or more are the bonus from Ongame. 10x is about $2.75. x 8 =$22/hr.

Considering you get to Platinum Star VIP, which you should do easily in a few days, you get points worth $0.55/hr (61points = $1in amazon GCs) per table, for an aditional $5.5/hr.

Those are my plans for the next few months. I will try to play at least 30hrs/week, something I have been doing for a while. I should play LOTS of hands and therefore make a lot of money.

I'll let you know how the points are coming! If I get RB at Party I might give them a try since the games are softer and they also have resizeable wndows.
