Party reload - doing it cheap

Postby briachek » Mon Mar 21, 2005 3:45 pm

As far as I know, you only need a raked hand to work through the party bonus, they don't put minimums. Therefore, if you sit down at a $25NLHE or PLO table, can't you just make money by folding?

$0.35 a round of blinds. $2 pot needed to get rake which lets say happens 5 times around. This is likely to be as many as 7-8 times a round but lets be conservative.

35 cents per 5 raked hands. 1400 raked hands needed for full bonus of $200

1400/5 = 280 rounds.

280 x $0.35 = $98 which is $102 profit without playing.

Am I missing something? I don't plan on actually not playing but if you just play a real tight game, you are pretty much guaranteed a $100 profit from the bonus.

Somebody confirm this so I can sign up at Party and make some free money. :) :) :)

EDIT: that can't be right. Not sure where you went wrong. But it seems pretty clear to me: if it's 35c in bonus per 5 raked hands, and if you're seeing 5 raked hands per round, then obviously you're making 35c in bonus per round. One round costs you 35c in blinds. So you will break even exactly. Now if there is a raked pot 6-8 times per round you make money, but not at 5 times per round.

Kent, 35 cents per 5 raked hands is what Briachek is saying it costs per round for the blinds, not the bonus released.

If you need 1400 hands and their are 5 raked hands per round, then you clear 1/280th of the bonus per round. That comes out to a little over 71 cents per round earned from a $200 bonus.

Sure, you could sit there and do nothing and make money, but wouldn't you rather win even more?

Yes, that's correct.

NL games have tightened up there at the .25 level. PL games, however, are JUICY.
If you're gonna play trash, expect it to get taken out.

(I hate those people who quote themselves, but that's one of my original lines).

Brian,

Excellant idea, and I think you should do it! Remember, don't make any exceptions just because you get dealt AA, even in the blind. I've seen enough of the beats you've taken to know that AA is definitely a -EV hand for you ;)
