Slowplaying AA in 25$ NL 5 max. How to gain max

Postby Jossnaz » Mon Feb 12, 2007 2:48 pm

Hi

Villain was pretty weird. He liked to raise and play his hands. I thought if i'm going to reraise him preflop, he could fold or at least I'll get no action after I bet the flop. Is this generally a bad idea to do with AA in 5 max?

How would you play this?

This guy was insane with his call, and I'm sure, he'll never do it again.

But how would you bet and make the most of it otherwise?
Perhaps my turn push was too early, but I was afraid him having some silly straight or flushdraw (i guess i'm too cautious, but on the other hand if he doesn't hit he'll not call a single cent).

If you were not intending to reraise preflop, I would check/call the flop then bet out 3/4 pot on the turn, push river. That way you pick up a cbet if he misses, ensure you price out the unlikely flush draw on the turn and cash in at the end.

yes i too thought about leading flop, but only very quickly.
Somehow I thought he'll bet again, and I don't like the
check - call overbet - bet 3/4 pot pattern
it looks too obvious to me and I guess for him too, 3/4 would make 9 dollars on turn, I could as well open push, can I?

if he is not on a draw I can as well check and try pushing on river.... what do you think?

(as I'm not that sure about what I'm talking about)

repop preflop. with the donks you are playing with at $25NL you REALLY have to protect your hands and get in with the best of it. Fancy plays really don't do any good at our level. Get it in with the best hand. He open raised, and after the flop you will be playing the hand OOP get a raise in before the flop to protect your hand and get the money in while you're favored.
