$25 6max - T7o in BB

Postby Semillon » Sat Feb 03, 2007 4:37 pm

Happy to see a free flop here, figured my Ts were probably good after the flop was checked around, the river bet by SB looked like one seeking a cheap showdown, is this a call, a raise or a fold at that stage?

PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.25 BB (6 handed) from (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

UTG ($21.30)
MP ($9.40)
CO ($34.55)
Button ($17)
SB ($24.75)

Preflop: Hero is BB with TImage, 7Image.
2 folds, CO calls $0.25, Button calls $0.25, SB completes, Hero checks.

Flop: ($1) JImage, TImage, 5Image (4 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, CO checks, Button checks.

Turn: ($1) 8Image (4 players)

River: ($2.60) 9Image (2 players)

I prefer just smooth calling his river bet mostly because I dont think you arent losing any value from any hands that you beat which he might bet there ( IE Two Pair) and you will most likely get check raised if he has a flush/higher straight so be happy to just call there. I think he made a pretty big mistake by betting in that situation.

You can't raise here...looks most likely to be a split. If you raise, you're GENERALLY only called by something that beats you, or splits, so they have to be folding a lot to make it a good play...

I can fold this river. I like the bet on the turn, but once you are called there and you hit the ugly end of the straight, I like a check/fold on the river. Opponent will have a Q most of the time here or a flush. Pot isn't big. It isn't really a horrible call, but I'd rather not pay off any draw chasers. The only obvious thing here is that this isn't a raise in any circumstances.
